Angling vs. Fishing

Most people believe fishing and angling are the same thing but they’re actually pretty different…
Yeah, they are both after the same thing…FISH, but it’s the way they go about it that makes it different…
Angling - is fishing by means of an angle (hook).
Fishing - is the act of catching fish wether by hand, net, hook, spear or any other way.
so by definiton “angling” is “fishing” but “fishing” is not necessarily “angling”…
why angling? where did it come from? Angling is an old english word for fishing that got passed down and around all the way up to today.
Anyway, I hope this cleared up a little bit of the confusion for some of you.
